Within the Heights Has So Many Wonderful Numbers, however the Postcredits Scene Is Further Candy

The film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony-winning musical In the heights is finally here, and it’s filled to the brim with tons of numbers showcasing Washington Heights and the extremely talented cast. The film, which is currently streamed and in theaters on HBO Max, has a running time of around 143 minutes, but we promise you you won’t want to miss a second. In fact, you want to hold out the entire credits for a fun little addition.

The film has a bonus performance that fans of the original musical will surely appreciate. Although a handful of tracks have been cut from the film – including “Inútil” and “Enough” – we see Miranda at the very end of “Piragua (Reprise)”. After quarreling with Christopher Jackson’s character about her business, Miranda’s character gets the last laugh when the Mister Softee truck breaks down and everyone rushes to his piragua stand.

It’s certainly a cute little moment since Miranda and Jackson both starred in the original production of In the heights – Miranda played the role of Usnavi (played by Anthony Ramos in the film) while Jackson spawned the role of Benny (played by Corey Hawkins in the film). After sharing the stage together, of course In the heights In 2009 they finally got back together for Miranda’s hit musical Hamilton In 2015, Miranda played the title character of Alexander Hamilton and Jackson played George Washington.

Candy Tooth: Will There Be a Season 2 on Netflix?

I went into Netflix’s Sweet Tooth not knowing what to expect, and what I got was an adventurous, mysterious, and wild journey. The series based on the comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire takes place in a post-apocalyptic world as a young boy named Gus, who is half-human and half deer, sets out on a quest to find his mother, and ends up finding out way more than he bargained for. Each of the eight episodes is packed with so many twists and turns that by the time the final episode rolls around, you’re left begging for more.

So, will there be a second season? Though Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the series, there’s a good chance it will have more episodes. Not only is it based on a comic book, meaning there are plenty of storylines left to explore, but within one day of its release, the show has already found its way into the Top 5 on Netflix. Plus, the fact that it’s executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey probably doesn’t hurt!

In the season one finale, so many storylines come together, but there are still so many loose ends left to tie up. After Gus learns his true origins, he tries to seek refuge at The Preserve not knowing that it has actually been taken over by General Abbot and his Last Men. They eventually show up, shoot Jepperd, and capture Gus. While Gus narrowly escapes being experimented on at The Preserve, there are still so many dark uncertainties looming. Here are just a handful of questions I need answered in a second season:

  • How will Jepperd recover from being shot? Honestly, this was the biggest question on my mind after seeing Jepperd unconscious in the field. Though he is eventually rescued by Aimee, knowing what happens to his character in the comics, I can’t help but worry about his fate on the show.
  • What does Aimee have planned for The Preserve? Speaking of Aimee, what exactly does she have planned for The Preserve? She’s adamant on working with Jepperd to get her daughter back, but what kind of tricks does she have up her sleeve?
  • Will Bear be reunited with her sister? One of the biggest twists in the final episode is that Bear’s real name is Becky and her sister is actually Wendy, aka Aimee’s adopted daughter who has been captured by The Preserve. Something tells me we’re in for a big family reunion in season two.
  • What’s General Abbot’s deal anyways? The first season barely scratches the surface of General Abbot’s backstory. It appears that he wants the vaccine so that he can use it however he sees fit, but what are his greater plans?
  • Will Jepperd be reunited with his son? In one of the final episodes, we learn that Jepperd’s wife gave birth to a son, but they were taken away shortly afterwards. We can’t help but wonder if his son is actually one of the hybrids at The Preserve with Gus.
  • Which side is Birdie on? In the final scene of season one, we learn that Birdie is still alive and appears to be working in Alaska to find a cure. But whose side is she on? In episode seven, we learn that Birdie stays back at Fort Smith when the military takes over the lab so that Richard can take off and save Gus. Perhaps she agrees to help them so that she can work undercover to find a cure and eventually reunite with Gus.

China’s authorities bonds are in a ‘candy spot’ after unload, says portfolio supervisor

Chinese Treasuries are in a “sweet spot” after last year’s sell-off – and now offer higher yields and much lower volatility compared to US Treasuries, a portfolio manager said.

The yield on China’s 10-year government bond rose nearly 1 percentage point last year to a high of around 3.4% in November as the country was “way ahead” in getting the Covid-19 outbreak under control, said Wilfred Wee, portfolio manager at asset management firm Ninety One on Friday.

The yield on 10-year Chinese government bonds has settled at 3.2% to 3.3% in the past few weeks. In contrast, the yield on 10-year US Treasuries ranged from 1.65% to 1.75% despite the recent surge.

“I think China Fixed Income is in a (a) sweet spot for this part of the cycle,” Wee told CNBC’s Street Signs Asia.

China is clearly … way ahead in terms of treating Covid and is now facing some structural issues like debt overhang, trying to revitalize consumption, etc.

“The Chinese bond market sold out last year and that was due to a better economy that came first during the crisis … I think China is clearly, and is, clearly ahead of the game when it comes to dealing with Covid. ” Now we are dealing with some structural problems like debt overhang, trying to stimulate consumption, etc., “he said.

China was the first country to report the coronavirus outbreak and the only major economy to grow over the past year when it expanded 2.3% year over year. According to estimates by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the US economy contracted 3.5% in 2020 compared to the previous year.

The prospect of better growth rates – and a pick-up in inflation – has led to higher US Treasury bond yields in recent weeks, narrowing the gap to their Chinese counterparts.

China’s “cleverness”

Still, China’s fiscal and monetary “caution” adds to the attractiveness of government bonds, said Daryl Ho, an investment strategist from Singapore Bank DBS.

“China set an example of fiscal caution by being one of the first economies to hold back further lost spending and launch debt relief efforts to curb systemic debt accumulation,” Ho said in a statement Thursday.

“This position is expected to continue through 2021, when the economy continues to recover, in stark contrast to countries that continue to spend wastefully due to poorer virus management results,” he added.

On the money front, Chinese policymakers have started tightening policies – “against the grain of restrained policies around the world,” said Ho.

With both fiscal and monetary policy in the US still loose, the Chinese yuan could appreciate, the strategist said. This would help investors protect the higher yields on Chinese bonds from currency fluctuations, added Ho.
