J&J names Joaquin Duato as CEO effective January 3, replacing Alex Gorsky

Johnson & Johnson announced on Thursday evening that Joaquin Duato will become the company’s new CEO effective January 3, replacing previous chairman Alex Gorsky.

Duato will also be appointed to the company’s board of directors following his move to the C-suite role. Previously, he was Vice Chairman of the company’s Executive Committee.

“I have had the pleasure to work closely with Alex for many years and I thank him for his outstanding leadership,” said Duato in a statement. “I am pleased that I will continue to benefit from his guidance and his findings in the future.”

Gorsky, who was CEO for nine years and will now serve as Executive Chairman, said in a statement that “the time is right for me personally as I am more focused on my family for family health reasons.”

During Gorsky’s time at the helm, J&J faced a wave of lawsuits over its talc-based baby powder and other products and was named in state opioid lawsuits.

Last month, a group of attorneys general reached a $ 26 billion settlement with three of the country’s largest US drug dealers and J&J after claims the companies fueled the deadly opioid epidemic.

According to the settlement proposal, distributors McKesson, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen are expected to pay a total of $ 21 billion, while J&J is expected to pay $ 5 billion over a nine-year period.

J & J’s vaccine was originally touted as a blessing by federal health officials when it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in late February, as it only requires one dose and can be stored at refrigerator temperatures for months.

Since then, it has suffered from poor perception of its overall effectiveness, concerns about rare side effects, and production delays.

In April, the FDA announced it was adding a warning label to J & J’s Covid vaccine, listing blood clotting as a rare side effect. In July, the FDA announced it was adding another warning to the J&J label, stating that the shot was linked to a serious but rare autoimmune disease called Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Mr. Friesen and Mr. Holmes decided to counter Mr. Jones’ version of the conversation with their own. The two men met through Marty DeRosa, a comedian from Chicago. Holmes, 33, grew up in the small town of Princeton in northern Illinois. His parents were members of the No-Name Fellowship, a religious cult. The cult broke up after the child of one of its members died after being denied medical treatment.

“My whole life has been influenced by a loud, tall, brazen cheat cult leader,” joked Holmes.

At the University of Missouri, the 36-year-old Friesian took an interest in American storytelling, including the conspiratorial stories Americans tell themselves.

He occasionally listened to Mr. Jones “from 9/11” when the Infowars host claimed to have predicted the attacks, Mr. Friesen said. “Then when I saw that he was getting involved with Trump, it felt weird,” said Mr Friesen.

Mr. Jones’ leap into presidential politics intrigued Mr. Friesen, who compared Mr. Jones to Charles E. Coughlin, a Catholic priest and similarly sprawling, charismatic radio station in the 1930s who went from populism to virulent anti-Semitism to obscurity.

For Infowars, a return to the dark could be looming. After a dizzying audience surge during Mr. Jones’ live broadcast of the Capitol uprising on Jan. 6, daily traffic on the Infowars website has dropped to about a quarter of that day’s views, well below what it has seen in recent years, an analysis by SimilarWeb, an internet tracking company.

Social media traffic has never fully recovered after Mr. Jones was removed from most major platforms in 2018 and 2019 for violating guidelines on abusive behavior and posting posts promoting violence or hatred. Sites like Infowars can attract casual readers who follow viral posts on social media. However, according to SimilarWeb analysis, these referrals have decreased significantly as less than 1 percent of all traffic to Infowars is through social media.

Who Is the Physique Alex Digs Up in Who Killed Sara?

The season finale of Who Killed Sara? did not answer all of our questions; in fact, it left us even more! One of the big questions we have for the next season is the identity of the body that Alex discovered in the final minutes of the finale. Is it sara Is it someone else we know Is it someone we haven’t heard from? There are many theories, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.

The most obvious conclusion is that the body belongs to someone who was murdered by Cesar Lozcano. After all, we’ve spent much of the show unraveling the depraved and violent things he’s willing to find his way around and cover up his mounting crimes. One possibility for the body is that it is Sara herself, as it is her death that has been the driving force behind the whole show so far. At the end of the season, we learn that Sara’s death wasn’t as clear-cut as everyone first thought: She was targeted by Mariana, who wanted her dead to keep family secrets, but Elroy, who was supposed to manipulate parasailing like Sara would die, revealing that he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Given that we see Sara’s apparent death on screen – she actually has a parasailing accident, though we now wonder who tampered with the rigging – the likelihood that she is the body with a bullet hole seems less likely to be. A far more likely theory is that it is one of the women Cesar traded, blackmailed, and molested. We’ve already seen how he murdered at least one of the women he forced to work in his brothel. Worryingly, he even made a record of the violence.

This theory makes more sense if you remember that Alex found the grave site based on a drawing in Sara’s notebook. This suggests that the body was likely there during Sara’s lifetime and either knew or was investigating the identity of the dead person. Since this was the big cliffhanger at the end of the season, we’re pretty confident we’ll get some answers when Season 2 hits Netflix on May 19th!

Alex Trebek’s final ‘Jeopardy!’ episode contestant on host’s tenacity

What is “perseverance”? A word that the beloved “Jeopardy!” Hosts Alex Trebek and James Gilligan, a candidate on Trebek’s last episode.

Gilligan is an Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature at San Francisco State University who has tried to be a candidate on the iconic show for 30 years.

“I’ve tried it since I was sophomore,” Gilligan said during a Friday night interview about The News with Shepard Smith.

Trebek’s final episode airs Friday night. He hosted the show from 1984 for 37 seasons. He was near the end of his nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer when Gilligan taped the episode. Gilligan praised Trebek’s tenacity.

“It was pretty obvious he’d lost a step, but when the cameras started rolling he was the absolute pro,” said Gilligan. “This guy was a titan in the industry and never gave less than 100%. It was just amazing to see a level of performance he was able to achieve despite the struggle he was fighting.”

Trebek died on November 8, 2020 at the age of 80. A new, permanent host for “Jeopardy!” has not yet been named.

“Alex always insisted that he wasn’t the star of the show, that it was the game itself and that the entrants were the real draw and draw,” said Gilligan. “I think whoever hosts after him must have the same attitude.”
